The Rebirth of Witchcraft

Doreen Valiente's memoir and history of the modern witchcraft revival, drawing on her experience as an early member and High Priestess of Gerald Gardner's coven. She discusses the formation of Gardnerian Wicca, her own contributions to its liturgy, and the personalities and controversies of the period, including other claimants to hereditary traditions. Written late in her life, it is an important and candid insider account of the revival's early decades.
