Archidoxis

The Archidoxis is the Paracelsian handbook of chemical medicine: in ten books it explains how the pure virtue of things may be separated from their gross bodies as quintessences, arcana, magisteries, elixirs and specifics, and how these are prepared from metals, minerals and plants. The tenth book, the Key, is said here to come from an ancient German manuscript. This English version by J. H. of Oxford, published in 1660, adds further tracts under the name of Paracelsus: on renovation and restoration, the tincture of the philosophers, the manual of the medicinal stone, the extraction of mercury from metals, the virtues of the members, and the long book of degrees and compositions. The text follows the EEBO-TCP transcription of the 1660 printing.
