Mosaicall Philosophy
Robert Fludd, the London physician and defender of the Rosicrucians, wrote his Philosophia Moysaica in Latin; it was printed at Gouda in 1638, the year after his death, and this English version followed in 1659. Fludd sets the 'Mosaicall' philosophy drawn from Scripture against the pagan philosophy of Aristotle, explaining creation through darkness and light, the divine spirit and the waters, condensation and rarefaction, and he uses his weather-glass to demonstrate how heat and cold, winds, clouds and thunder arise. The second section describes God as the soul animating all things and accounts for magnetism, sympathy and antipathy by occult irradiations, with many practical proofs. The text follows the EEBO-TCP transcription of the 1659 edition.
