Belial, the sixty-eighth spirit, is described as a mighty and powerful king who was created next after Lucifer. He appears as two beautiful angels sitting in a chariot of fire and speaks with a comely voice. The Goetia credits him with distributing presentations and senatorships, causing favour between friends and foes and giving excellent familiars, but adds that he must have offerings and does not readily tell the truth. Mathers gives him 50 legions; Weyer's longer entry gives 80. The name comes from the Hebrew Bible, where beliyya'al means worthlessness. His seal is one of the 1904 plates.
