The 72 Spirits of the Ars Goetia
Murmur
54th spirit of the Ars Goetia · Duke and Earl · 30 legions
Murmur, also Murmus or Murmux, is the fifty-fourth spirit, a great duke and earl of 30 legions drawn partly from the Order of Thrones and partly from Angels. He appears as a warrior riding a gryphon and wearing a ducal crown, preceded by ministers sounding trumpets. The Goetia credits him with teaching philosophy and with compelling the souls of the dead to appear and answer questions, which makes him one of the necromantic spirits of the catalogue. Weyer has a parallel entry. His seal is one of the 1904 plates.
