The 72 Spirits of the Ars Goetia
Zagan
61st spirit of the Ars Goetia · King and President · 33 legions
Zagan, the sixty-first spirit, is a great king and president ruling 33 legions. He appears as a bull with gryphon's wings and then in human form. The Goetia credits him with making people witty, turning wine into water, blood into wine and water into wine, changing metals into coin of the realm and making fools wise. His transmutations echo those of Haagenti, the forty-eighth spirit. Weyer's entry for Zagan is closely parallel. His seal is reproduced from the 1904 plates.
