The 72 Spirits of the Ars Goetia
Vapula (Naphula)
60th spirit of the Ars Goetia · Duke · 36 legions
Vapula, or Naphula, is the sixtieth spirit, a great, mighty and strong duke of 36 legions. He appears as a lion with gryphon's wings. The Goetia credits him with making people knowing in handicrafts and professions, and also in philosophy and other sciences. His entry is among the shortest in the catalogue. Weyer's Pseudomonarchia has a matching entry under Vapula. The seal reproduced on Commons comes from the 1904 Mathers and Crowley edition.
