3 Enoch or the Hebrew Book of Enoch

by Hugo Odeberg · Hugo Odeberg (ed. and trans.)

Hugo Odeberg's pioneering edition and translation of Sefer Hekhalot, known as 3 Enoch, presents Rabbi Ishmael's ascent and the transformation of Enoch into the angel Metatron. With a lengthy introduction and commentary, this Cambridge publication long served as the main English access to a central Merkavah text and remains useful for students of angelology. The 1973 reprint added a prolegomenon by Jonas Greenfield.
