An ABC of Witchcraft Past and Present

Doreen Valiente's encyclopedic reference to witchcraft, folklore and magic, arranged alphabetically. Entries cover historical figures, trials, traditions, beliefs, magical practices and places associated with witchcraft, with particular attention to Britain. Written by one of the most influential figures of the modern witchcraft revival, it reflects both the scholarship available in the early 1970s and the outlook of a practitioner, and it remains a useful guide to the lore that informed modern Wicca.
