Jewish Mysticism & Kabbalah

The Essential Kabbalah

The Heart of Jewish Mysticism

by Daniel C. Matt

A concise anthology in which Daniel C. Matt translates short passages from a broad range of Kabbalistic sources, including the Zohar, Moses Cordovero, Isaac Luria and Hasidic teachers. The selections are grouped by theme, such as the nature of God, creation, the Torah and spiritual practice, with notes identifying sources and clarifying difficult ideas. It works well as an accessible first encounter with primary Kabbalistic writing, prepared by a respected scholar.
