Women's Divination in Biblical Literature

Prophecy, Necromancy, and Other Arts of Knowledge

by Esther J. Hamori

Hamori examines the women in the Hebrew Bible who practise prophecy, necromancy, dream interpretation and other forms of divination, treating them as recognised experts rather than marginal figures. Her chapter on the medium of En-dor highlights the narrative's respect for the woman's skill and hospitality.
