The 72 Spirits of the Ars Goetia
Amon
7th spirit of the Ars Goetia · Marquis · 40 legions
Amon, the seventh spirit, is a marquis great in power ruling 40 legions. The Goetia says he first appears as a wolf with a serpent's tail, vomiting flame, and then at command as a man with a raven's head, sometimes with a dog's teeth. He tells of past and future, procures feuds and reconciles quarrels between friends. Weyer's earlier entry for Aamon is closely parallel. His name is often linked by modern writers with the Egyptian god Amun, though the grimoires themselves do not draw that connection.
