The 72 Spirits of the Ars Goetia
Asmoday
32nd spirit of the Ars Goetia · King · 72 legions
Asmoday, or Asmodai, is the thirty-second spirit, a great, strong and powerful king of 72 legions, described as chief under Amaymon. He appears with three heads, a bull's, a man's and a ram's, a serpent's tail and webbed goose feet, breathing flame and riding an infernal dragon with a lance and pennon. The Goetia says he gives the ring of virtues, teaches arithmetic, astronomy, geometry and handicrafts, answers truly and reveals treasure. The name descends from Asmodeus of the Book of Tobit and the Testament of Solomon. His seal is one of the 1904 plates.
