The 72 Spirits of the Ars Goetia
Balam
51st spirit of the Ars Goetia · King · 40 legions
Balam, the fifty-first spirit, is a terrible, great and powerful king of 40 legions. He appears with three heads, those of a bull, a man and a ram, with a serpent's tail and flaming eyes, riding a furious bear and carrying a goshawk on his fist; his voice is hoarse. The Goetia credits him with answering truly about past, present and future and with making people invisible and witty. Weyer adds that he was formerly of the Order of Dominations. His seal is reproduced from the 1904 Mathers and Crowley edition.
