The 72 Spirits of the Ars Goetia
Berith
28th spirit of the Ars Goetia · Duke · 26 legions
Berith, the twenty-eighth spirit, is described as a mighty, great and terrible duke of 26 legions, also known as Beale, Beal, Bofry or Bolfry. He appears as a soldier in red riding a red horse and wearing a golden crown. The Goetia says he answers truly about past, present and future, turns all metals into gold and confers dignities, but warns that he is a great liar who is not to be trusted. Scholars have compared the name with Baal-berith, a deity mentioned in the Book of Judges. His seal is one of the 1904 plates.
