The 72 Spirits of the Ars Goetia
Marbas
5th spirit of the Ars Goetia · President · 36 legions
Marbas, the fifth spirit, is a great president of 36 legions who first appears as a great lion and then in human form. The Goetia says he answers truly about hidden or secret things, causes and cures diseases, gives skill in the mechanical arts and can change people into other shapes. Weyer records him under the alternative name Barbas. His seal, like the others in the series, was redrawn for the 1904 edition from the British Library manuscripts.
