The 72 Spirits of the Ars Goetia
Vepar
42nd spirit of the Ars Goetia · Duke · 29 legions
Vepar, or Vephar, is the forty-second spirit, a great and strong duke of 29 legions who appears as a mermaid. The Goetia says he governs the waters and guides ships laden with arms and ammunition, can make the sea rough and seem full of ships, and can cause death within three days through putrefying wounds. Weyer's Pseudomonarchia has a matching entry under Vepar or Separ. The Commons file shows one of two seal variants associated with him in the Goetia material.
