Agrippa's table of the Sun · 6×6 square · intelligence Nachiel · spirit Sorath
The table of the Sun is a six-by-six magic square of the numbers 1 to 36, each line totalling 111 and the whole 666. Agrippa prints it alongside the seal of the Sun and the sigils of its intelligence Nachiel (111) and spirit Sorath (666). The total of 666, the number of the beast in Revelation, has drawn comment from later writers, but Agrippa treats it simply as the Sun's sum. He describes the table, engraved in gold under a fortunate Sun, as bringing renown, favour and power. Order-six squares are harder to construct, and Agrippa's arrangement was widely copied.
