A short dialogue on witchcraft, magic and spirits written by James VI of Scotland, later James I of England, after his involvement in the North Berwick witch trials. It defends the reality of witchcraft against sceptics such as Reginald Scot and discusses necromancy, demons, werewolves and fairies. A key primary source for Jacobean attitudes to witchcraft and often read alongside Shakespeare's Macbeth.
