A demonological treatise by the Lorraine magistrate Nicolas Remy, who claimed involvement in hundreds of witchcraft prosecutions. Drawing on trial confessions, Remy describes pacts with the Devil, the sabbath, harmful magic and the punishment of witches. The English translation was made in 1930. It is a disturbing primary source of great historical importance for understanding how judges conceptualised witchcraft during the height of the persecutions.
