Mysterium Coniunctionis
Jung's final major work, completed in the mid-1950s, explores the alchemical theme of the union of opposites as a symbol of psychological integration. Through detailed examination of alchemical texts, he discusses figures such as the king and queen, sulphur and salt, and the stages of the coniunctio. Demanding and erudite, it represents the culmination of his long engagement with alchemy and is best approached by readers already familiar with his thought.
