Recommendation Whether to Confiscate, Destroy and Burn All Jewish Books
An English translation of the legal opinion Reuchlin wrote for Emperor Maximilian I in 1510, the only expert opinion to oppose the general confiscation of Jewish books. Reuchlin argues from Roman and canon law that Jews were fellow citizens of the Empire and that their books were valuable to Christian scholarship.
