Sefer Yesira
Edition, Translation and Text-Critical Commentary
Peter Hayman's Mohr Siebeck edition is the most rigorous critical study of the Sefer Yetzirah's textual history. He reconstructs the earliest recoverable text from manuscript recensions, provides a translation and detailed commentary. Technical but indispensable, it is for serious students who want to know what this foundational cosmological work may originally have said. Hayman's notes also review earlier scholarly theories.
