Shalom Shar'abi and the Kabbalists of Beit El
This Oxford study recounts the history of Beit El, the Jerusalem yeshiva of kabbalists founded in the eighteenth century, and its master Shalom Shar'abi. Giller explains the elaborate kavvanot, or meditative intentions in prayer, built on Lurianic teachings and still practised in Sephardic circles. It is a rare study of Kabbalah as living contemplative practice.
