First Pentacle of the Moon
Key of Solomon · Mathers 1889, fig. 49 · 1 of 6 · Psalm 107:16
The First Pentacle of the Moon serves, according to Mathers' text, to call forth and invoke the spirits of the Moon and to open doors however they are fastened. It is drawn in the shape of a door, with YHVH at its centre, other divine names on one side and the angels Schioel, Vaol, Yashiel and Vehiel on the other. The versicle is Psalm 107:16, 'He hath broken the gates of brass, and smitten the bars of iron in sunder'. The six lunar pentacles deal largely with water, journeys, sleep and protection by night.
