Second Pentacle of the Sun
Key of Solomon · Mathers 1889, fig. 33 · 2 of 7
The Second Pentacle of the Sun, according to Mathers' text, serves to repress the pride and arrogance of the solar spirits, who are described as proud and haughty by nature. It bears the names of four angels written in Hebrew: Shemeshiel, Paimoniah, Rekhodiah and Malkhiel. It carries no versicle. The solar series combines divine names of majesty with the planet's associations with rule, renown and illumination.
