Gemini ♊, the twins: a mutable air sign ruled by Mercury, 21 May – 20 June.
Gemini, the twins Castor and Pollux, is a mutable air sign ruled by Mercury. Astrologers associate it with communication, curiosity and versatility.
The dates are approximate because the sun's entry into each sign shifts by a day or so from year to year; the calculator on this site gives the exact sign for a birth date and time. In traditional astrology a sign is read together with its planetary ruler, the house it occupies and the aspects to it, not in isolation.

curious · witty · communicative · adaptable · versatile · restless · sociable
In Western astrology Gemini is described as the communicator of the zodiac: curious, quick-witted and endlessly interested in people and ideas. A mutable air sign ruled by Mercury, symbolised by the twins Castor and Pollux, it is given a double nature, able to see both sides of a question and to move easily between subjects, moods and social circles.
Astrologers credit Gemini with intelligence, humour, adaptability and a gift for language, whether in conversation, writing, teaching or trade. The twins are said to stay youthful in outlook and to learn fast. The challenges traditionally named are restlessness, inconsistency, a tendency to scatter energy across too many interests and a reputation, sometimes unfair, for being changeable or superficial.
In love Gemini is portrayed as playful and engaging, needing mental companionship and conversation as much as romance, and wary of anything that feels confining. At work it is linked with journalism, teaching, sales, media, travel and any role that rewards versatility and communication. Popular modern lists give agate or pearl as its stone; older astrology instead emphasises Mercury's condition in the chart as the key to how Gemini's gifts are expressed.
Stone: Agate
