Pisces ♓, the fishes: a mutable water sign ruled by Jupiter (modern: Neptune), 19 February – 20 March.
Pisces, two fishes bound by a cord, is a mutable water sign traditionally ruled by Jupiter and the exaltation of Venus; modern astrologers add Neptune. It is associated with imagination, compassion and dissolution of boundaries.
The dates are approximate because the sun's entry into each sign shifts by a day or so from year to year; the calculator on this site gives the exact sign for a birth date and time. In traditional astrology a sign is read together with its planetary ruler, the house it occupies and the aspects to it, not in isolation.

In Western astrology Pisces is described as the dreamer and mystic of the zodiac: compassionate, imaginative and sensitive to what cannot be seen or measured. A mutable water sign traditionally ruled by Jupiter, with Neptune added by modern astrologers, it closes the zodiac and is symbolised by two fishes bound by a cord, swimming in opposite directions.
Astrologers credit Pisces with empathy, kindness, artistic and spiritual gifts and a readiness to forgive and to help those in need. It is said to absorb the moods of others and to be at home in music, poetry and contemplation. The challenges traditionally named are escapism, indecision, vague boundaries, a tendency to idealise people and situations, and vulnerability to being taken advantage of.
In love Pisces is portrayed as romantic, tender and devoted, seeking a soul-deep bond and willing to sacrifice much for it. At work it is linked with the arts, music, film, healing and caring professions, religion and charity, wherever imagination and compassion are valued. Traditional astrology notes that Venus is exalted in Pisces, associated with selfless love; popular modern lists give aquamarine (older lists amethyst) as its stone.
Stone: Aquamarine
