The Austrian orientalist's history of the Nizari Ismailis, drawn from Arabic and Persian chronicles hostile to them and translated into English in 1835. Hammer presented the 'Assassins' as a model of the dangerous secret order and compared them with the Templars, Jesuits and revolutionary societies of his own day.
