The Book of the Sacred Magic of Abramelin the Mage

Mathers' famous translation from a French manuscript in the Bibliothèque de l'Arsenal of the Abramelin system, the eighteen-month regime of prayer and purification leading to knowledge and conversation of one's Holy Guardian Angel and command over evil spirits. Though incomplete compared with later German-based editions, this version shaped the Golden Dawn and Aleister Crowley and remains historically important. The magic word squares and Mathers' introduction are part of modern occult history in their own right.
