The Christian Interpretation of the Cabala in the Renaissance
Joseph Blau's pioneering study surveys how Christian humanists from Pico della Mirandola and Reuchlin to Agrippa and later writers absorbed and transformed Jewish mystical ideas. Brief and readable, it was for decades the standard English account of Christian Cabala. Although later scholarship has refined many details, it remains a helpful orientation for readers interested in the Renaissance meeting of Kabbalah, Hermeticism and Christian theology.
