The Mandaeans

Ancient Texts and Modern People

A study combining fieldwork among Mandaeans in Iran, Iraq and the diaspora with the analysis of their scriptures and colophons. Buckley discusses priesthood, ritual, gender and the history of the community, and argues for an early date for Mandaean scribal tradition.
