Peterson's edition and translation of La Véritable Magie Noire, a French grimoire dated in its printed form to 1750 and attributed to a mysterious 'Iroé-Grego'. It is essentially a reworking of the Key of Solomon, with its own preparations, pentacles and conjurations, and shows how Solomonic material was adapted in the French chapbook tradition. Text and translation are presented with notes on sources and variants.
