Upholding the Common Life

The Community of Mirabai

by Parita Mukta

A study of how Mirabai has been remembered and sung among peasant and low-caste communities of Rajasthan and Saurashtra. Mukta contrasts this living tradition with the ambivalence of the Rajput aristocracy toward the saint.
