Solomonic Magic & the Grimoires

Antipalus Maleficiorum

by Johannes Trithemius · Stephen Skinner & Daniel Clark (trans. & ed.)

The first English translation of Trithemius's 1508 treatise against sorcery, best known for its annotated catalogue of the magical books the abbot had seen and judged dangerous. That list is one of the earliest bibliographies of necromantic and Solomonic texts and remains a major source for the history of the grimoires. Skinner and Clark identify the works Trithemius describes and discuss his remedies against witchcraft and demonic harm. Part of the Sourceworks of Ceremonial Magic series.
