Saducismus Triumphatus
Joseph Glanvill, Anglican clergyman and Fellow of the Royal Society, believed that denying witches and spirits led straight to denying God. After his death in 1680 his friend the Cambridge Platonist Henry More completed and published this book. It opens with More's long letter, followed by Glanvill's philosophical considerations on the possibility of witchcraft and More's account of the nature of a spirit. The second part offers proof from Scripture and a large collection of modern relations, among them the drummer of Tedworth and many English cases, and closes with Anthony Horneck's translation of the Swedish account of the witches of Mohra. The text follows the EEBO-TCP transcription of the 1681 edition.
