Everyday Magicians

Legal Records and Magic Manuscripts from Tudor England

by Sharon Hubbs Wright & Frank Klaassen

A sourcebook that pairs translated court records of magical practitioners in Tudor England with the kinds of magic manuscripts they used. Cases involve treasure-hunting, finding stolen goods, love magic and spirit conjuration, and the selected texts show the rituals behind them. Introductions and notes make the material accessible to students. A valuable companion to The Magic of Rogues for understanding grimoire magic at the level of everyday life.
