Investigations into Magic

by Martín Del Rio · P. G. Maxwell-Stuart (ed. and trans.)

An abridged English translation of the Jesuit Martín Del Rio's Disquisitionum magicarum libri sex (1599–1600), the most comprehensive Catholic treatise on magic and witchcraft of its age. Maxwell-Stuart's introduction places Del Rio's classifications of magic, divination and the demonic pact in their Counter-Reformation context.
